In many cases, synthetic carpet is cut with little or no charring, and heat generated by the laser acts to seal edges to prevent fraying. Many specialized carpet installations in motor coaches, aircraft, and other small square-footage applications benefit from the precision and convenience of having the carpet precut on a large-area flatbed laser cutting system. Using a CAD file of the floor plan, the laser cutter can follow the outline of walls, appliances, and cabinetry – even making cutouts for table support posts and seat mounting rails as required.

For wall to wall carpet, the main technique is engraving lines (PLT graphic), non-woven material has the best engraving result.

2)Unconventional carpet and mosaic carpet cutting

Replacing manual moulding by machine.

Usually, Hand-tufted carpet maker have to do needlework on the carpet or need a mould for the job. The conventional technique is to paint the pattern manually on plastic film, then punching by rivet along the outline with certain distance to form the mould. At last, infiltrating the printing ink into the carpet covered by plastic film. The pattern will be formed for knitting the carpet.

However, manual pattern painting and rivet punching always cost a lot of time. This tedious working must be replaced by laser processing.
